Hospitals have issued helpline numbers on their website. The numbers are also shared via newspapers and other media.

Interested people can call the respective hospital, and upon meeting the criteria they will be called to the hospital.
                     
What are the criteria to participate in the trials?
Hospitals are looking for healthy volunteers in the age group of 18 to 55. They should not have diabetes, heart disease, lung disease, hypertension, asthma, cancer, or any kind of allergies.Pregnant women cannot volunteer.

Do I need any document to be a part of trials?
Volunteers have to fill an informed consent form which contains all the info regarding the trial. After counselling, the form is signed along with the submission of AADHAAR card and the volunteer is registered for the trial. The identity of the volunteer is kept a secret.

When are volunteers called for vaccination?
Volunteers are first called for screening. They undergo physical screening, blood test, urine test and a coronavirus test, before being finalised. Once the reports give an all-clear, the volunteer is called for vaccination.

Can the vaccine give Coronavirus to volunteers?
Experts say that Covaxin is a "killed virus vaccine' and not a live virus vaccine. This vaccine acts as an antigen, as it enters the body, it generates an immune and antibody response.This vaccine cannot give volunteers coronavirus disease.      

Will the hospitals pay volunteers for the trials?
Volunteers are not paid for participation. According to rules set up for trials, the volunteers get transportation costs. As per a report, Patna AIIMS gives a volunteer 1000 per visit.

How long volunteers are required to be available for the trials?
According to information included in the consent form, volunteers are asked to commit seven months for the trial.

During this time, they are monitored, their health updates are taken on phone, and when needed they are called to the site.

Are there any side-effects of vaccine trials?
Pain, skin redness at the site of the injection and fever are common side effects of vaccines. Other side-effects are shared with the volunteer in the consent form and during counselling.
